RAE 2008:
"The results are a tribute to the talent and dedication of the University's academic community and the continued excellence of their work. This is a tremendous achievement for Nottingham and confirms our status as a global research-intensive university."
Professor David Greenaway, Vice-Chancellor
We have recently won research funding from the Chinese Research Councils (eg, Ministry of Science and Technology) and our award-winning Centre for Sustainable Energy Technologies building has gained Key Lab status for Integrated Thermal Energy Storage Technologies from the Ningbo Government.
We shall develop our research portfolio at UNNC over the next five years and become a significant research presence in China.
We are building on the highly successful outcome from the UK Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2008, which confirms The University of Nottingham's status as a world-class institution carrying out research of international quality. The results of RAE 2008 place The University of Nottingham firmly in the top tier of the world's elite higher education institutions. In addition to scoring highly in quality rankings covering major disciplines in science, engineering, the social sciences, business and the arts, it is Nottingham's rise in the research power rankings that demonstrates the impressive volume of excellent research carried out here. We are now ranked in the top 7 of all British universities for research power and are one of only two institutions to move into the UK Top 10 since 2001 - a rise of seven places, making us the highest mover of any university.
The following are examples of the world-leading research The University of Nottingham Ningbo, China is bringing to China by drawing on the research expertise and experience at Ningbo and at the University of Nottingham UK.
